Have you guys been to QQ Cafe lately? Last night we got takeout from QQ. I didn’t take pictures because we always get the same things and food has always been good so I didn’t think I need to blog about it. But it was the first time that we didn’t think the food was good.
Popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was way way way over-fried. It was so hard and dry. We ended up throwing the whole box away. Stew Pork Rice (控肉飯) was so fat (and not the good kind) that it was just oily and gross. The flavor was different, too. Pork Chop Rice (排骨飯) was alright. Dr. P thought it was a lot sweeter than usual. I ordered my slushy ice with milk for extra $0.50 and there was no milk.
What happened to QQ? What is going on with my favorite Taiwanese restaurant? One thing I did noticed was the owners were not there yesterday. Did they go on vacation? Has the food gone downhill because they weren’t there? I don’t know….
I probably won’t go back to QQ for a while now. If you guys go, please let me know if they food becomes “normal” again.

hmm….I went there the day before yesterday, for my first time ever, to QQ, because I was in the area and I remembered your blogging about it. I ordered 雙排飯, my mom ordered 蚵仔煎. She thought that the 蚵仔煎 was just ok, can’t compare to the ones in Taiwan, and it is expensive for the amount of food she’s getting. However, I liked the 雙排飯, it seemed to worth the dollar we paid (small soup plus some jelly dessert). I took it back and Andy had some, too, he liked it very much that we actually went back there again to get the same thing the next day (5-29)…it was lunch time and looked like the owner were there…(one older woman and one older guy right?) I also ordered shaved ice and it was pretty good, better than the one I got at 康康小美….so…that’s my eating experience with it…..I think I’ll try the popcorn chicken next time and see how it is…I’ll let you know if I do.
I hope you’re talking about the one in Temple City. I started going to QQ when I was in 8th grade which was 6 years ago. At first it was owned by a mom and dad but I heard because the dad/mom was sick so they sold it. 2 years ago, the same owners opened won won kitchen just next plaza. When they sold QQ, it was never the same. Won won is still the best. They have the best pork chop rice.
I’m not sure if you know of Won Won. Just wanted to recommend.
I’ve been goin to QQ for almost 10 years. I didn’t think qq was that much different from won won…until last friday. I happily ordered my favorite pork chop rice for to go. After I got home and finished that rice, I reached for my dessert (that tea jellow dessert) and my boyfriend saw a tiny strand of curly hair (pubic hair) in it.. very gross. needless to say, i m never goin back to QQ again
Hi!
I recently moved to So Cal and I actually google Taiwanese restaurants and got your blog. I went to QQ kitchen this afternoon after reading your entry, I thought it was good and really cheap. Comparing to the price of Sin Ba la and Class 302.. but I also read your Won Won entry and I think my bf and I will try that out next time.
Thanks so much for blogging about LA area restaurant!! I enjoy your foodie blog!!
I used to go to QQ, but not anymore when I had really bad experience with them. The waitress was not even taiwanese and know nothing about taiwanese food. she asked me if I want my 蚵仔煎 with or without egg. Then I found out the original owner opened the Won Won in the nearby plaza, and I think their food is still good.
