I’m back from my vacation! We had so much fun in Mexico and wish we could stay there longer. Before I start writing about hour week long trip, I want to finish writing about my family dinner the night before we left for our trip.

I wanted to have some Chinese food because I know I would miss it after 7 days without it. Parents picked China Islamic Restaurant. It was one of their favorite restaurants.

Szechuan Kim Chi @ China Islamic Restaurant by you.
四川泡菜 Szechuan Kim Chi ($1.75)

Dad did the ordering. Szechuan Kim Chi was marked with a spicy red pepper sign on the menn, but it wasn’t spicy at all. It was sour and crisp.

Home Style Roast Chicken @ China Islamic Restaurant by you.
道口燒雞 Home Style Roast Chicken ($6.50)

The Home Style Roast Chicken was tender, but a bit too salty for my taste. Parents thought the dish wasn’t as good as usual this time.

Green Onion Pies @ China Islamic Restaurant by you.
蔥油餅 Green Onion Pies (4 Slices) ($1.95)

2 orders of Green Onion Pies. I like their green onion pies. It tasted good, but was a bit oily.

酸菜羊肉砂鍋 Lamb with Pickled Cabbage Warm Pot ($14.85)

Lamb with Pickled Cabbage Warm Pot was the must-get item on a winter night. The soup was filled with pickled cabbage, glass noodle, mushroom and tender sliced lamb.

蔥爆羊肉 Lamb With Green Onions ($10.95)

Lamb with Green Onions is my favorite dish at China Islamic. I like to use green onion pies to wrap the lamb with a little bit of their chili sauce. Delicious.

三鮮炒刀削麵 Three Flavor Dough Slice Chow Mein ($7.95)

The dough slice chow mein is always good. The portion is big and we always have leftover to take home.

I like this restaurant. Business was definitely not as good as before. We were there on Friday night and there were only about 4 tables of customers in the entire restaurant. Before we always had to wait for a table on a weekend night. I guess people don’t eat out as much because of the economic crisis we are going through right now. I think a good way to save money when eating out is to go eat at lunch and take advatage of the lunch specials many restaurants offer. China Islamic has lunch special. Maybe we’ll try that next time to save some money.

my uncle used to make a MEAN Szechuan pow cai. good times..

Mama’s Kitchen on New Ave also has a decent version IMHO.

My dad really likes Mama’s Kitchen.
I’ll ask him if he tried the kimchi before.
