A good thing about food court is that everyone can find something to their liking.  I wanted Korean Chinese, but Dr. P was more in the mood for some real Korean food.

Corea BBQ Restaurant has Korean BBQ, soon tofu, noodle, rice, and all those typical Korean dishes.  Price is very reasonable.

For some reason, I was craving for Korean Jajangmyun.  A quick search online, I found out that the food court at Freshia Market in Tustin has jajangmyun.  Perfect!  We can do our grocery shopping and eat dinner at the same time.

The food court has 3 restaurants: Korean Chinese, Korean Japanese, and Korean Korean.  The Korean Chinese one is called Ching Chinese Express.  A lot people ordered jajangmyun from here.

Dr. P had to go to Costa Mesa to take care of some business.  He wanted me to go with him.  He knew that he could only use food to lure me into going.  We found El Toro Bravo Tortilleria on Yelp.  It was listed as #1 when we search for restaurants in Costa Mesa.

We saw a big “El Toro Bravo” sign when we entered the parking lot.  We walked in, and it was a small Mexican market.  Uh…. where is the taco?  We asked the lady at the counter.  She said, “tortilleria in the back corner parking lot.”  The small tortilleria was tucked away in the corner.  But we really should’ve seen it with the long line of people waiting.  Food price is really cheap here.  Combo meals run about $6.

Dr. P was out in LA for the day.  I went over to my friend Wen’s place for afternoon tea.  I had one of the Groupon from Port Restaurant & Bar, which was going to expire on that same day.  I gave it to Wen and her hubby to have dinner there that night.  But they insisted that I go with them and be the third wheel of the night.  They said that I wouldn’t be the third wheel because their 12 year old son would be my date.  Yeah, I always wanted to see how it would feel to date a younger man.  haha….

Port is a cute little place.  The dining room was elegant, but still feel pretty casual.  There were guests in shorts and sandals.  There were also guests with suits and cocktail dresses.  Our waiter had bandage on one of his hand.  I asked him if he was ok.  He told me the whole story of how he burned his hand just earlier, and how he had to wrap it for sanitary reason so the oozes from his wound wouldn’t contaminate our food.  Uhhhhh…. exactly the things I wanted to hear from our waiter before the meal.

We celebrated Dr. P’s birthday this year at Scott’s Restaurant & Bar.  I had a $50 gift certificate for this restaurant from Restaurant.com for a long time.  I have been waiting for a special occasions to go to this fancy restaurant.

Scott’s Restaurant & Bar used to be called Scott’s Seafood.  Maybe they decided that they don’t want to specialize in seafood anymore and changed the name?  The restaurant is across the street from South Coast Plaza.  No self parking, and valet parking is about $3.

We are back from our honeymoon in Costa Rica!  Now that I am officially Mrs. P, it’s time to catch up on writing….  ^_^

We went to Anaheim to visit Dr. P’s 100-year-old grandma.  She doesn’t speak English, and I don’t speak Korean.  But she kept on looking at me, and just smiled.  When we were leaving, she held my hands and said something to me in Korean.  I didn’t understand her, but she made me feel happy.  After the visit, we went to grab dinner with Dr. P’s family at Wang Tcheng, a Korean style Chinese restaurant.

Dr. P said that his family came to this restaurant for his niece’s birthday before, and he thought the food was pretty good.  The restaurant has nice decor, but that also reflects on their price.

We went to a little girl’s birthday party at Pretend City.  I never knew there is a place like this for kids.  All the kids just went wild, and everyone had so much fun.  For us adults, the birthday girl’s parents hired a catering company and provided some delish tacos.  We love the food so much, and got contact info from the catering company for future reference.

Tacos

There were 3 types of meat available: carne asada (beef), carnitas (pork), and chicken.  Everything was prepared to order.  Then there were rice and bean in the hot buffet tray, as well as a salsa and condiment bar.

[Irvine] [Japanese] 靜間 Shizuma Ramen

I found this new ramen shop in Irvine from a coupon booklet we received in the mail. With a $5 off coupon, we went to try this new restaurant.

Even though this restaurant is called Shizuma “Ramen”, they only have 6 different ramens on the menu.  They also have a few rice bowls, curry, katsu, and hand rolls.

After Dr. P came back from his trip to Utah, he told me one of the restaurants he was craving for was Stonefire Grill.  I have been telling Dr. P about their Tri Tip BBQ Salad, and he really wanted to try it.

BBQ Chopped Salad (Small) ($7.99)
Choice of BBQ chicken or BBQ trip tip with mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, carrots, red cabbage, cilantro and jack cheese tossed with tortilla strips and buttermilk ranch dressing and topped with tomato and scallions

The BBQ Chopped Salad with tri tip was served in a bowl.  The salad was tossed with ranch dressing, not too heavy, just the right amount.  All the vegetable was fresh.  Dr. P liked the roasted corn a lot.  The tri tip was fantastic as always.  However, I thought my previous to-go orders had a lot more meat than the dine-in one.  The two of us only managed to finished half of the salad.

[Alhambra] [Seafood] The Boiling Crab

The Boiling Crab

Dr. P and I love The Boiling Crab.  All of our friends love The Boiling Crab.  Recently we took Dr. P’s brother and his girlfriend to try Boiling Crab for the first time, and they love it as well.  So I thought I gotta take my parents to try it, too.  I picked the new Alhambra location on Main street because I heard it’s less crowded than the Alhambra Valley Blvd location.  We got there around 6pm, and there was no wait.

King Crab Leg ($17.99/lb)

Since we ordered all the same fixing as my previous visits, I didn’t take many pictures.  We got a pound of shrimp with sausage and corn added, cajun fries, hot wings, gumbo, and 2 pounds of King Crab Legs.  I had King Crab Legs at Euclid location before.  It was super fresh and delicious.  But the crab leg at Alhambra wasn’t as fresh.  The shell was really soft and soggy.  Some pieces were better than others, but overall I think the Orange County locations has better food.
